VOLUNTEER

Thank you for considering volunteer opportunities for the 2023 Portage Invitational.
The Portage Invitational is expected to draw 6,000 runners and their families this year and it would not be possible without YOU!

SAVE THE DATE: Volunteer Meeting will be Wednesday, October 4 from 6:45pm to 8:00pm. Looking forward to seeing you then!

Scroll down to see volunteer descriptions and sign up.

Course Rangers

You will be a part of a large crew of volunteers who are placed along the course to look out for the safety of runners, ensure spectators are not impeding the course for runners, and to monitor the race overall.  This is a great spot for parents who want to see their student run!  They will pass by you twice!  You are able to bring a chair for your shift.

Finish Line Water

You and your fellow volunteers will assist in ensuring runners clear the finish line quickly and receive water.  You will ensure the area stays clean while supporting runners at the end of their race!

Student Volunteers

If you are a student looking to fulfill community service hours or just looking to support the Portage Invite, sign up here!  You will be placed where the need is as we draw closer to the event!

Glory Days 5K

Early birds, this one is for you!  The Glory Days 5K is an open race for the community that is the first race of the day!  Volunteering with the Glory Days means you will help with sign ups, provide people who signed up their shirts and direct runners to the start line.  You will also shift quickly to the finish line to distribute medals to the first 50 runners!

Awards

You will work with fellow volunteers to help hand out medals and awards to those who placed.  This requires a lot of organization, focus, and collaboration as it moves fast fast fast!

T-Shirt Sales

Have you wanted to see what it is like working retail?  Here's your chance!  You will support Gazelle Sports staff and your fellow volunteers as shirts are sold.  You will likely be running to grab a shirt size.  This is a high paced volunteer slot!

Setup

Setup takes place Friday, October 7 in the morning and covers various positions which include picking up flowers and delivering the to Portage West, prepping awards, hanging banners and signage and more.  We always enjoy a breakfast Friday morning open to volunteers.

Recycling & Trash

You will work with your fellow volunteers to check on recycling and trash bin levels, monitor and collect the grounds for loose debris on the ground.  It may not sound glamorous but this is super flexible and allows you to watch you student run at anytime!
